Bulgaria: EPPO conducts searches in investigation into corruption involving EU fisheries funds
On behalf of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) in Sofia (Bulgaria), the Bulgarian National Police carried out several searches today, in an investigation into suspected passive corruption and abuse of office affecting EU-funded maritime and fisheries programmes.

Alleged misuse of EU agricultural funds: EPPO submits information to Hellenic Parliament
Today, the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) in Athens (Greece) has referred to the Hellenic Parliament information regarding the alleged involvement of two former Ministers of Rural Development and Food in criminal offences. The Greek Constitution provides that only the national Parliament has the power to investigate and prosecute serving or even former members of the Greek government.

Slovakia: EPPO probes alleged misappropriation of €7.4 million destined for military aid to Ukraine
The European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) in Bratislava (Slovakia) today conducted evidence-gathering activities, in an investigation into suspicion of misuse of funds destined for military aid to Ukraine, with an estimated damage of €7.4 million. Eight people were detained, four of which are public officials at the Ministry of Defence.

The European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) in Riga (Latvia) has referred to the Court of Economic Affairs (Ekonomisko lietu tiesa) the suspected ringleader of the criminal syndicate targeted by the Admiral 2.0 investigation, for large-scale tax evasion in an organised group and money laundering. He has been in pre-trial detention since his arrest, on 28 November 2024.

Germany: EPPO secures another conviction in €23 million VAT fraud involving platinum coins
The European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) in Munich (Germany) has secured another conviction in an investigation into organised VAT fraud involving platinum coins. The convicted is one of the leaders behind a criminal organisation responsible for defrauding over €23 million in taxes.

France: Yacht sales agent convicted of customs fraud in import scheme from US
In a case investigated and prosecuted by the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) in Paris (France), a yacht sales agent has been convicted of customs fraud by the Paris criminal court.
